Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

Vitals ms number

Average RR-interval variability (RMSSD) during sleep, in milliseconds.

Detailed Description

HRV (RMSSD) is the gold standard for autonomic nervous system assessment. High HRV reflects parasympathetic dominance (recovery). Oura measures HRV during sleep when interference is minimal. Values are highly individual (20–100+ ms); personal trends matter more than absolutes. A 15%+ drop from baseline signals stress, illness, or under-recovery.

How to Improve

  • Diaphragmatic breathing before bed (5 min)
  • Regular aerobic exercise
  • Limit alcohol intake
  • Cold exposure (cold showers)
