Alcohol and Nightly HRV: A Two-Week Run
Experiments Easy 14 days oura
Start the Health OS protocol "Alcohol and Nightly HRV: A Two-Week Run" (experiments-alcohol-cutoff-3h) and show me today's step.
Goal
Two weeks, 7 days per phase: how an earlier alcohol cutoff moves nightly HRV and REM
Hypothesis
Last drink 3+ hours before bed → more REM → higher nighttime HRV
Alcohol suppresses REM and triggers rebound awakenings in the second half of the night (Ebrahim 2013)
Phases
1
Baseline
7 days- Drink as usual, log the time of your last drink
2
3-Hour Cutoff
7 days- Last drink no later than 3 hours before bed
- If you don't drink, log 0 drinks
Tracked Metrics
Primary
Secondary
Evaluation
Method: compare_phase_means
Design: baseline (7 days) → intervention (7 days)
